The Armenian currency is the Dram (AMD). The Armenian banknotes are found in the following units: 1.000, 5.000, 10.000, 20.000 and 50.000 Dram. It is generally advised to take smaller banknote units when using taxi’s or visiting small shops. 

It is possible to exchange money in banks and various currency exchange spots in Yerevan and in the regions. Euro’s and Dollars are exchanged in all banks and currency exchange offices with no exceptions. 

Money can also be obtained from banks and ATM machines which are easily found in Yerevan. It is advised to search for available ATM spots when traveling outside Yerevan. 

Major credit cards (American Express, Visa, Euro/Mastercard) are accepted in nearly all international hotels, major stores and restaurants, often for a commission.
